Nursery
The Ninda school nursery borrows two mud classrooms from the nearby church. However, they are very old, and dark. Instead, the teachers teach outside, even if it is pouring with rain. We hope to build new brick classrooms. In addition, the classrooms are bare and need supplies that are essential. Kids in both nursery and primary are required to have a uniform to attend school, we belive that this should not be a barrier to the educational needs. Nursery is important as this allows parents to work without worrying about their smallest children. GS Kabara also has very old mud classrooms, that were built in 1981. They are also dark, and the students have to crowd around a single source of light. The buildings pose a safetly hazard as they are quite quickly falling apart.
This is the church building that Ninda primary school is sometimes allowed to borrow.
Ninda doesn’t have a classroom for the nursery students. They instead use one poster repeatedly, meaning even the youngest kids cannot take a midday nap. As you can see, some of the students can’t afford a uniform.
Every day in GS Kabara, the young nursery students take a nap in the middle of the day. They have one mattress for six/seven children, and no blankets, even if it is freezing cold.
In GS Kabara, the children were crowding around the hole they made in the wall to be able to see their workbooks.
